READ HEBREWS 12:18–24
Carly testified, “I got what I deserved. Then I got what I didn’t deserve.” As a teenager, she was pulled into the world of drugs, which led to a violent offense and several months of juvenile detention. While she was there, her cousin, a youth pastor, led her to faith in Christ and a life she never thought possible. “Two people made me what I am today: the judge who sentenced me and brought me to my senses when I was doing wrong, and my cousin, who brought me the message of God’s forgiveness and showed me the way out.”
[You have come] to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel (Hebrews 12:24).
Abel’s blood cried out from the ground for judgment against his attacker, his own brother (see Genesis 4:10). The “better word” spoken by the blood of Jesus is that every person who believes in His sacrifice may be forgiven of sin and welcomed into God’s family. This better word must be heard, believed, and shared with those around you.
Prayer Suggestion: Lord, help me to speak the message of Your mercy and grace in Christ.
