READ ACTS 2:1–13
Commercials often make promises that if people will follow their specific formula they will experience life-changing results. Advertisers often gain converts by showing before and after photos. Unfortunately, many people who experience these changes revert to their former state in short order.
When people are baptized in the Holy Spirit, there will be a real change in their lives. The change can be as obvious as before and after pictures in an ad. When the disciples were baptized in the Holy Spirit, it caused some people to marvel, but others were not impressed.
Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine” (Acts 2:12–13).
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit changes the perspective of Christians. They experience increased zeal for the lost, and they are empowered to witness to others.
Challenge for Today: Do not allow those who criticize you for your spiritual experience to affect your spiritual walk.
