A NEW HEART

READ EZEKIEL 36:22–28

In malls throughout the US, there are shops where customers go through an interactive process in which a teddy bear is assembled and customized to their own preferences. Children and adults choose the color, the sound, and even the scent of the bear. And to finish off the creation, they pick out a heart from a bin and place it in the bear before it is sewn up. They can even pay extra for a heart that beats. It’s a fun way for a child to feel a connection to a new stuffed toy.

Long before toy companies offered this kind of unique experience, God was in the business of building lives and providing new hearts.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26).

God makes a promise to the nation of Israel to restore them, not just physically, but spiritually. He promised to  place His Holy Spirit in them as the ultimate restoration project. It’s a special promise He has extended to all His children through the work of Jesus.

Prayer Suggestion: Take a few moments to ask God to renew and refresh your life with His Holy Spirit.
