BECAUSE I SAID SO!

READ LEVITICUS 11:39–45

A mother tried to explain to her child why he shouldn’t do something. In a whining voice, he asked, “Why not?” As she had many times before, the mother answered her son, “Because I said so!” He didn’t like that answer, but had learned his mom was usually right.

When Moses and Aaron were telling the Israelites of the many rules that God had given, the people may not have understood. But God wanted His chosen people to be separate from the ungodly nations around them. He wanted His people to reflect His holiness in their daily lives.

“I am the Lord, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy” (Leviticus 11:45).

Have you ever found yourself questioning God’s commands? God still calls His people to live in a way that reflects His nature to those around them.

Challenge for Today: Live so that others will know you are a Christian.
