READ PSALM 24:1–6
How is it possible to have a relationship with God? He is so pure, so mighty. His standards are so far beyond anything humanity can achieve.
Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god (Psalm 24:3–4).
Some people try to get close to God by going through religious rites. Others strive to win His attention by doing good deeds. But none of those things can open the door to a relationship with God because works aren’t able to cleanse hands or hearts. But there is good news.
The gifts of spiritually clean hands and a pure heart are freely given if you are willing to “believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31). When sinners repent and receive Jesus as the Lord of their lives, their souls are sanctified, allowing them to draw near to our merciful, loving God.
Prayer Suggestion: Jesus, thank You that by faith in You, I’m cleansed and freed to have a precious relationship with the heavenly Father.
