CLEAN HANDS

READ EXODUS 30:17–21

God instructed Moses to make a bronze basin. Its purpose was to hold water for washing the hands and feet of Aaron, the high priest, and his sons. This ceremonial washing was required of all priests before they entered the tent of meeting or approached the altar to make an offering.

“Make a bronze basin, with its bronze stand, for washing. Place it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it. Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet with water from it” (Exodus 30:18–19).

While many people would not think of coming to church with dirty hands and feet, contact with the world can leave anyone spiritually unclean. Even thoughtless words and deeds can interfere with your worship. As you approach the throne of God, examine your heart, and allow the Holy Spirit to do His work in you. It honors the Lord when His people present offerings of praise with clean hearts and pure motives.

Prayer Suggestion: Lord, give me clean hands and a pure heart.
