READ JOHN 15:1–8
Have you ever begun a project knowing it required more than one person to accomplish but insisted on trying to do it yourself? The world considers independence of great value and teaches people from infanthood to completely depend on oneself. Jesus refuted this philosophy:
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).
The believer’s life requires constant connection to Jesus. Through His grace, Jesus allows opportunity for success, even for those who do not credit Him for the help, through the brain, body, and breath given by Him. Their accomplishments are blessings in this world, but go no further.
Believers who stay connected to the Vine accomplish great works that will continue into eternity. Being connected in the Vine accomplishes the work that Jesus desires. Time and effort are not wasted. Jesus is glorified in the fruit you produce, and He delights in your faithful work and dependence on Him.
Thought for Today: Be fruitful by staying connected to the Vine.
