Imagine being an Israelite in the camp just before they entered the Promised Land. Their entire life had been dedicated to one ambition—acquisition of their inheritance. Because of unbelief, years had been spent wandering in the wilderness. Israel needed God’s guidance for that time, and now it needed His guidance as it stepped into its future. God gave that direction to Joshua in the form of an instruction that applied to Joshua and to the people who followed him. The instruction was simple: get ready!
“You and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites” (Joshua 1:2).
When God has given you a promise and you are waiting for its fulfillment, be sure to listen for additional instructions. You can always trust Him to give you the instructions you need to fulfill His plan for your life.
Ask God to help you to hear clearly when He speaks and to give you the courage to act.
