GIVE IT TO GOD

READ 1 PETER 5:1–11

If you were to ask your Christian friends which “spiritual disciplines” (practices) were the most important in their walk with God, what answers would you get? Predictably, you’d get responses including “prayer,” “Bible study,” and “meeting together with other Christians for worship.” All of these are valid. But how about including “letting go of your worries” as a regular practice in your Christian life?

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

Is there a family situation that keeps you up at night? How about your job? Are you in constant distress about something you cannot change? Do any of your friends have problems they try to unload on you? God doesn’t merely invite His people to give Him all of their worries and concerns. He commands it. Every day in prayer, ask yourself, “Is there something I keep worrying about?” Turn it over to God. Ask Him to provide for the material need, heal the sick body, or guide you to do the right thing in the situation that confuses you. He cares for you. Trust Him.

Challenge for Today: Make a list of things that cause you anxiety. Give them all to God.
