What promises did God make that are fulfilled in Joshua chapters 14–17? First, God had instructed Moses many years before about how to divide the land He promised the Israelites as an inheritance. Second, Caleb reported that the Lord said he would inherit the land he walked on because he followed God with all of his heart.

“So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly’” (Joshua 14:9).

Forty-five years after that promise, God fulfilled it as Joshua blessed Caleb with his inherited land.

The Bible is filled with God’s promises like the ones in Joshua. The ultimate promise is that if you believe in Jesus Christ and His resurrection, you too will have an inheritance. God has promised His people eternity in heaven with Him. All He asks is for your whole heart.

Thank You, Lord, for the promise of eternity with You.
