READ LUKE 1:39–45
The gift of a baby is an amazing thing. Though parents of the past waited months to see their new blessing, ultrasound technology allows modern parents to get a sneak peek much earlier. Miraculously, the mother of John the Baptist was inspired by the Holy Spirit to share an early revelation about her cousin and the Baby she carried long before the birth as well.
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:41).
The baby in Elizabeth’s womb acknowledged the Christ child Mary carried. The Holy Spirit filled Elizabeth, who then proclaimed blessings upon Mary and honored her belief in God’s promises. Mary then sang a song of worship thanking God for His faithfulness.
The Holy Spirit works throughout the world to bring honor to Christ and to fulfill God’s plan in the lives of people. As Christians allow the Holy Spirit to live and work through them, they become channels to bring honor to Christ and to bring the message of life to a world dying in the bondage of sin.
Prayer Suggestion: Seek the Holy Spirit’s empowerment to honor Christ in all things.
