READ JOB 17:1 THROUGH 20:29
Throughout history, oppressed groups of people have looked to God for hope. Songs about heaven gave joy to millions who, having little freedom or joy on earth, looked forward to a day when the wrongs would be righted.
Everything that brought Job joy had been taken from him, but he refused to live in despair. He chose to place his hope in God. He could not explain why he had lost everything, but he trusted in the One who knows all things. Instead of being driven away from God, his heart drew closer to Him.
“I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!” (Job 19:27).
Do not wait until you face persecution to hunger for heaven. There is a risk of falling in love with the things of the world so that your love for God grows dim. Do not place your hope in your possessions or relationships on earth. The only true hope you have awaits you in heaven.
