READ EZEKIEL 37:1–14
The once proud people of Israel resided in a foreign country, wondering if they would ever return to their homeland. Though the nation went into exile because of disobedience, God did not forget the people and wanted them to know He would restore them to their homeland. This message came in the form of a vision of a valley of dry bones into which the Holy Spirit would breathe life.
“I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord” (Ezekiel 37:14).
The Holy Spirit brought life into the valley of dry bones, and He can bring life to those trapped in the bondage of sin. This separates Christianity from all other religions. Other religions focus on the individual’s own efforts to obey the rules in an attempt to earn their god’s favor. Christianity focuses on the Holy Spirit’s power to bring new life by transforming those who are bound in sin.
Challenge for Today: Christians should allow the Holy Spirit to renew their lives with His presence.
