LOVE’S ATTENTION

READ ROMANS 8:1–8

Do you remember the first time you were in love? Maybe it was with a school classmate. Maybe it was someone you went to church with. It’s likely that you eagerly anticipated every time you were in a room with that person. You probably struggled to take your eyes off of him or her—at least until you were caught looking!

Whatever we love, we focus on. If we are in love with ourselves, we will constantly think about how we can make our lives better. If we are in love with God, we will focus on Him and seek ways to accomplish His desires.

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires (Romans 8:5).

If believers love God, they will seek to know Him better and accomplish what He desires. One of the best ways to do this is to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and receive the power necessary to walk in a manner that pleases Him. Learn to say “No” to yourself so that you can say “Yes” to God.

Challenge for Today: See the world through God’s eyes and respond to the lost with love.
