PROPHECY THROUGH THE SPIRIT

READ 1 SAMUEL 10:1–10

Saul’s quest to find some lost donkeys turned into a life-changing encounter with God. The Lord instructed Samuel to anoint Saul to be king of Israel. After this anointing, Samuel told Saul that the donkeys had been found. But more importantly, he told him that he would experience an encounter with God

When he and his servant arrived at Gibeah, a procession of prophets met him; the Spirit of God came powerfully upon him, and he joined in their prophesying (1 Samuel 10:10).

Saul experienced the Holy Spirit’s empowerment so that he could lead the nation of Israel. Although Saul would later disobey God and be removed from the throne God used him as long as he was obedient. The Lord demonstrated His power in Saul’s life as long as Saul would let Him.

God is still in the empowering and life-changing business today. The Holy Spirit comes upon believers to proclaim God’s Word to a lost and hurting world. He directs Christians to bring the good news of the gospel to those in need of Christ’s love.

Thought for Today: God wants to make everyone a changed person.
