SET APART

READ JOHN 17:9–19

“Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth” (John 17:17).

The dictionary defines the word sanctify as setting apart something that is sacred, making one holy, or freeing one from sin.

When Jesus died on the cross and rose again, He opened a means by which this is possible. Those who believe in His sacrifice become a new creation that is separate from the world. Christians are found holy before the Father. God set this redemption process into action from the beginning of humanity because He desired relationship with humans.

Understanding God’s Word is an important part of this. Studying the written Word teaches truth about identity in the Kingdom, about purpose, about the future. As you learn more, you can set yourself apart more for God’s service. John 1 also teaches us that Jesus is the Word. This means that even as you grow, God sees you as sanctified because of Jesus’ work on the cross.

You are sacred and holy. Read the truth and learn who you are as a sanctified disciple.

Challenge For Today: Act as one set apart and holy unto God.
