READ EXODUS 28:36–41
In the Book of Exodus, God spoke through Moses and explained how various things were to be designed and created. The instructions in today’s Scripture describe what Aaron, the high priest, and those who served under him, were to wear. Although the specific instructions may seem strange, God had reasons for the commands He gave.
After Aaron and the lesser priests were clothed, God continued his instructions to Moses.
“After you put these clothes on your brother Aaron and his sons, anoint and ordain them. Consecrate them so they may serve me as priests” (Exodus 28:41).
God wanted his chosen priests to be well clothed, and He had a reason for each piece of clothing they wore. The most important part was that His chosen servants were to be holy before God. Wearing the proper clothing would mean nothing if the priests’ hearts were not in tune with God.
Clothes may make the man, but only the part of him that others see. The things that are in the heart are what matter most to God.
Prayer Suggestion: Holy God, help me to live so that others will see Your holiness in my life.
