WATER OF LIFE

READ EZEKIEL 47:1–5

In a detailed vision spanning multiple chapters of the book bearing his name, the prophet Ezekiel is taken by an angelic presence on a tour of God’s holy Temple and the activities that would take place there. The Temple tour ends with a remarkable sight.

The man brought me back to the entrance to the temple, and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar (Ezekiel 47:1).

There is a river flowing from God’s dwelling place into the world He created. This river flows through the land, bringing life and abundance and beauty to everything it touches.

And where is God’s dwelling place today? It’s in His people. “Rivers of living water” will flow from those who believe in Jesus (see John 7:38). You possess a new life in Christ that God gave you. You can spread it to the ends of the earth. Don’t hold the love of God in. Let the river flow!

Challenge for Today: Spread life today with a kind word to a stranger.
