WISDOM

READ 1 KINGS 2:1 THROUGH 3:28

Life often results in missions that are beyond our recognized abilities. Even Solomon, the wisest person to ever live, understood that reality.

As King David spoke his final words to his son Solomon, David declared that Solomon possessed wisdom. Yet Solomon felt he was below the standard needed for ruling God’s great nation. Therefore, he requested wisdom from God. While David saw the potential in his son, Solomon understood that he needed God’s help.

“So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?” (1 Kings 3:9).

Solomon’s example provides hope for all who are faced with challenges that call for keen decision-making. If your desire is to please God and seek His will, you can confidently know He will provide wisdom for all who ask (James 1:5).

Prayer:

Lord, You know the challenges this day will bring. Please give me Your wisdom to discern right from wrong and to make God-honoring decisions.
